I started with a lawyer Feb. 2001 and began paperwork for bankruptcy but have not paid all costs to lawyer because I was behind on mortgage and vehicle payments. Lawyer advised me to get current with these in order to keep them. I am current with them at this time. Have recent letter from one creditor stating charge-off but no longer receive any statements or information on other creditors within last 9 months or so. Should I go on and try to pay lawyer and continue with bankruptcy or should I wait it out a little longer? I have been having a lot of trouble with vehicle problems but with my credit I can't afford to lose it or I won't have transportation for work. Also, if you file and get behind on a payment say a week will your creditors try to take it or is it more like if your months behind.
