What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? IL
We live in new contstruction and hired a contractor to pour a concrete back patio. He was liscenced and permited thru out city. He came yesterday to dig and put in the gravel etc. He called to say he was comeing and husband asked him to come in thru the back.
We have garages in the back with a large back alley.
OF course he drove thru our front yard and part of the neighbors yard around to the back of the house. The ground was wet. Yard is ruined. Yard needs to be re-graded and re-sodded. First estimate was $1500.00.
Contract that we signed says not responsible to landscaping.
Contractor says to bad. He claimed to not have room in the alley, but all our neighbors did the same thing no problem.
Is it just to bad for us??

I forgot to add that the contractor has not yet been paid. He is supposed to get paid when he comes back to pour the concrete.

You still need to pay him for the job you hired him for. You may be able to sue him for the yard damage later.
