What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Michigan

ok I'll just jump right in, I received a store credit card and obtained a few items with it. I was making money order payments to them all was fine until about 2 months ago they did not receive my payment. I've been trying to get this situated since then with no luck.

I have sent a fax of the money order receipt front and back. They then told me that that was not sufficient proof? I don't get that at all as this is what you use to get your money back if any incident arises. I tried a few weeks ago to put a tracer on it to see what happened and I was told the money order needs to be open for at least 2 months before they can put a tracer on it, I will be able to do this in 2 more days.

From the past 2 months the late fee's have stacked up and I have about 200-250 in late fee's I should not have. This credit company(synchrony) has been giving me the run around in what seems like an attempt to get more money out of me. Is this something I need to get a lawyer involved with? and what steps should I take first. Thank you for your time.

You have only 2 more days before you will have the information you (and apparently they) need. Hang on till then and see what the creditor says.

Have you put a trace on the money order to find out (1) if it was cashed and (2) who actually cashed it? If Synchrony didn't receive the money, then the late charges are proper. The correct step to make would have been to make another payment AND to pay the late fees so that they wouldn't keep accruing. Then, you could have received a refund when you proved that they did get their money.

Of course having a bank account you could then schedule payments for withdrawal from on the store account is asking too much, right?
