What is the name of your state?...sigh...I really am weary of this as my username indicates. But here goes. I met a bonafide pathological liar online about six odd years ago. She is from Texas. I am in Massachusetts. We dated, she lived with me for a summer before I found out that everything she ever said to me was a lie. I tried to deal with her problem and make it work but it was impossible and we eventually broke up. Boohoo. Sucks to be me.

Anyway, back when we dated, she made it a habit to accuse nearly every man she ever met of some violent or sexual crime - rapes, stalkings, beatings, etc etc ad nauseum. Apparently, this is a pretty common behavior of people with this problem. I had a brief discussion with her step mother about it (six years ago) and her step-mom confirmed that this psycho has been making false accusations of this kind almost since birth.

Fast forward to today. Problem is that now I am receiving nasty emails and such from her and even strangers (as well as some former mutual friends) indicating that she is commonly accusing ME of raping her, beating her almost to death, and that, as a result, I am confined to a mental hospital. Needless to say, this isn't very much fun and I fear this will eventually get out of hand and have some sort of severe impact on my life. So what can I do? I am pretty well heeled. So I don't mind spending serious money to deal with her - even if it costs more than I could ever hope to reclaim. I really just want this garbage to stop and I don't want this nutcase out there defaming me. So what are my options?

Block the offending parties' e-mails.

If I knew how to shut people up talking bad about me, I would've used it on several people already.

"Block the offending parties' e-mails."

Thanks very much for the reply. I tried ignoring her and hoping it would go away. But it seems she is escalating and telling more and more people - including people who used to be my friends. Those who believe her take it very seriously - as would I if I believed her stories. And the accusations are of serious crimes (i.e. rape, attempted murder, etc). I actually think ignoring her makes her angrier and makes her try that much harder to inflict harm. I feel squashed between a rock and the proverbial hard place.

Ignoring her will hurt her more than you know. Try it.

she wants you to react.

your true friends know what kind of person you are. if she is telling them that you are in a mental hospital, obviously that isn't true.
