I reside in California. My ex and I have had our disagreements but we agreed that he would come and pick our daughter up and he never showed up. We argued the day before he was to pick her up but he let this interfere with his rights to see her. Now that he has failed to meet his obligation as a father who wants rights to his daughter, how do I avoid this in the future? Right now she's only 5 weeks old and I do want him to have a relationship with her because she deserves to know who her father is despite how he and I feel about each other.

Do you have court ordered physical custody and is there a visitation schedule in place?
