What is the name of your state?MN

Ok, I don't know anything about the law, but I need some help. I recently broke up with someone who works at a magazine selling advertising. He talks to many people, some of who are very upstanding citizens. Upon our breakup he proceded to discuss our relationship problems with his clients while he was at work. He basically bashed me to several different clients. I ran into one and he had let me know that my ex had told him several terrible things about me on one occasion when he called my ex at work. This was very embarassing, especially since this person was one of those upstanding citizens. Is this slander? Do I have grounds to take it to any other level to assure that this does not continue? Please help!

I'm no lawyer, but from what I gather from reading post in this forum is, if its true it is not slander.

You do not have a claim for slander until you can show ALL of the following:

1.) What was said, was FALSE. (Not someone's negative opinion; not a misunderstanding, not something that the speaker honestly believes but you disagree with, but FALSE)

2.) It was broadcast to an audience

3.) You have suffered damages as a result

The burden of proof is entirely upon you.

Based solely on what is in your post, you can only show #2. What was said appears to have been the speakers opinion, and you have not suffered any damages.
