trying to be fair

I was riding a friend's motorcycle when I lost control and laid it down. We inspected the bike and found a broken mirror, turn signal and minor scatches. I told him to get an estimate and I would take take of the repairs. When i got the estimate it was for over $2000! I met with service tech and he explained that when an estimate is written every detail of damage is taken in to account, not specific to this minor accident.Upon review, I accepted the damage I know I did for a total of $300. The owner of the bike does not accept my offer what should I do?

I am a law school graduate. What I offer is mere information, not to be construed as forming an attorney client relationship.

Own up to your responsibility...there is quite a bit of difference between 300 and 2000 dollars. Get three estimates on your own from reputable places and show him. If he still complains, you might think about going to small claims to let a judge decide.

ANd next time, do not use someone else's stuff, this is what generally happens when you do and you damage that person's property.
