Help. A dear friend of mine who lives in Alabama found out her husband is having an affair. He has in the past been verbally abusive to her and is beginning to threaten her physically. She is on the verge of a nerverous breakdown and says she cannot face life. He has asked her to leave. They rent their home and the lease is in his name. I told her to come stay with my family in Georgia for a few weeks to get her head and emotions together. Her father tells her if she does this, the husband can claim she abondoned him. I say get her out before he hurts her physically, or she cracks and does something to herself. She is concerned about the legal issues, but feels she needs to get away. Can he claim abondonment in this case?
