Let's suppose 4 male teenagers between the ages of 14 and 16 are all under the influence of alcohol.

One 14 year old says to the second 14 year old something that makes him mad.

Let's suppose second 14 year old forgets he is holding a knife and punches the other in the stomach causing a fatal wound.

Would the 14 year old be charged with murder? What would the consequences be?

Would the 16 year olds be held liable just by being present? What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

Let's not.

Please feel to tell us - if this is a real situation - who was charged with what.

If you can't do that, we'll assume it's homework or a hypothetical. We don't do either.

Actually, if OP was involved, it would probably not be in his interest to do that. Someone was killed in a knife fight. I would absolutely encourage everyone involved to not talk with ANYONE except their own attorney.

Oh I'm always finding all kinds of strange stuff in my hands (knives, jewelry, cats, sandwiches, vodka bottles, my husband's private parts, money, books, cell phones, you name it), and I can never figure out how it got there...

Well, you never know, you might be surprised sometime...I have learned through hard experience (no pun intended!) that it's always wise to check the contents of one's hands on a regular basis just in case something interesting (or at least edible, like chocolate) turns up. :D

Fine, I will answer.

Yes, the 14 can be charged with murder, though it probably won't be followed through with, instead, a charge of aggravated manslaughter on plea.

This still means that the 14 year old won't be out of prison for around a decade.

Oh, and in the next hypothetical, can we please have someone riding a unicorn?

Thanks

I've got piece of advice for the next hypothetical: Never play leap frog with a unicorn:D
