What's my recourse?

Recently, there were state budget cuts affecting higher education in the state of Louisiana. Several programs were immediately canceled/eliminated as a result. If you have invested in tuition and living expenses and the program is canceled, do you have any recourse to recover your tuition, expenses, etc.? At this point, there is not another school in the state that offers the degree from the canceled program. The credits earned in the program are apparently not transferrable to other institutions. I would appreciate any advice on this matter.What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

Did you pay tuition out of pocket or take out student loans? If you took out student loans, what type? Did your entire school close or was it just a specific program that was cancelled?

It's possible that IF the school entirely closed and IF you took out Stafford or Perkins loans, those loans MIGHT be discharged.

As far as trying to get your money back directly from the school, I doubt it but don't know for sure. Hopefully a senior will stop by who knows the answer.
