What is the name of your state? wisconsin

im in wheelchair.

my skylight leaked

hired contractor to fix leak

he said he'd have to rip up 5 feet of shingles all way round, tar, calk ect....

he said all day job.

$500

he came.....

spent 1.5 hours, removed NO SHINGLES, just peeled back existing roofing shingles, put weathershield on, tarred and calked.

all day job was ONLY, 1.5 hours.

LEAK IN SKYLIGHT STILL THERE.

he said leak coming from somewhere else other than skylight.

i think it is too...........

BUT.......

IS IT FRAUD, to say your gonna be all day, rip up 1/2 of roof, only to do none of that??

thanks for any advice.....

It may or may not be fraud; that depends on the intent he had when he made the statement. But is certainly is misrepresentation and since he did not perform the work he said he would have to do, he should not charge for that work. He may be entitled to reasonable pay for what he actually did, which sounds like a lot less than $500.

You might try filing a consumer complaint with the state. You can do that on the Internet at http://www.datcp.state.wi.us/cp/consumerinfo/cp/complaint-form/pdf/home_improvement.pdf
