I am in WA state. I am disabled with MS. I attempted to purchase a prescribed electric wheelchair from a local medical equipment supply firm. They billed my insurance for me and on the bill of sale handwrote that I was to receive the chair when the insurance paid them and that my portion of the purchase was $650 (which I paid and have a receipt for) I signed this handwritten note. They did not. The insurance company negotiated with them for a lower price which they accepted. They are now attempting to collect the difference ($900) from me. They are saying that I signed a legal contract and intend to hold me to it. I am thinking that the contract is now void through no fault of my own. They are refusing to return my $650 and threaten to take me to court for the additional amount. I have found another company that will sell me the wheelchair for the insurances approved amount. Am I bound to this contract. Are they bound to the contract and have to give me the wheelchair for the negotiated price? I was not involved in the negotiations at all and never agreed to pay the difference. Talk about sticking it to the disabled! What a company!! Thanks for your time
