What is the name of your state? New York

Hi There,

I came to the states in the late 80s on a Tourist Visa. I was approved for asylum in 1997 and applied for my Green Card in late 1998. I did my Green Card interview and received my Green Card in July 2004. The Green Card came in with an issue date of July 2003. I would like to know when could I apply for citizenship? I heard that I have to wait for 3 more years and also heard that since I have been in states for a long time, 16 years to be exact, I'm illegible to apply now and need not wait.

I appreciate any help.

Thanks and God Bless.
Mack.
