When Do I Notify Courts of Moving?

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? California

Good morning.

Quick refresher: Ex and I have 4 children, I have full physical and legal custody, ex moved to east coast earlier this year, I do not know if he has ever notified the courts of this.

I have been applying for jobs around the country, and am on the "final list" for a few of them. I would like to leave California to get away from the extremely high cost of living. I have told the jobs that I am applying for that I will be available the begining of January, so we can move over the Christmas holiday, kids start school after the break etc. My ex has told me that he will not protest the move, he is actually encouraging it becuase pretty much anywhere I move w/in the continental US will be closer to him, so he can see the kids more often. My question is when do I notify the courts? The divorce decree does not say anything about staying in California, notifying the courts etc.

Notify them as soon as you know where you are moving and also serve a copy upon dad.

Well, I finally have given my 30 day notice on my apartment and am starting to pack. I asked my ex a question regarding something else, then come to find out that he never notified the courts that he was moving. Our court orders say nothing about me (the CP) having to stay in the state of California. Will his not notifying the courts that he moved have any affect on my ability to move at the end of the month? I am headed to the courthouse tomorrow to notify them of my new address.
