I currently live in VA, but was married in WY and resided in UT during my marriage. My husband was in jail for his 3rd conviction of assault (I was the victim each time) when we found him in order to serve divorce papers. His mother got power of attorney and contested the divorce. I ran out of money to pay attorney fees, so my attorney withdrew. It has been almost a year since the original filing for divorce. Where do I stand now? Do I need to start all over again? I filed in Utah, but have been living in VA for over 6 months now. I would like to be able to finish the divorce myself, as I can't really afford another attorney.
