Fraud? Embezzeling? Not sure where to go...
Posting this for a friend. This all took place in Wyoming by the way. Him and his partner ran a business together. Business is no longer active. After the business disolved, I was asked to help finish up loose ends. I'm finding all sorts of issues that I think should be addressed. First let me start w/the fact that a vehicle was purchased by him. When he went to take this vehicle he was told it was not in his name. His partner (an ex-girlfriend) said that when they bought it, she had it put in her mothers name. I found a License renewal card for the vehicle. It is in both his name and her mothers name. He has no idea where this vehicle is any longer. What can he do? And what if they've sold it? Wouldn't they need his signature?
Some back history....the business went down when he went on vacation. People's orders were not being shipped out and by the time he came back (1 month later) he was unsuccessful in getting it up and running again. She kept his mail for almost a year and is now finding out little bits and pieces of what happened. One of the letters he received was from a customer. He said that his check had been cashed but the businesses name had been crossed out and replaced with a personal name (his ex-girlfriends). Is it possible to get coppies of checks that went into her account? I'm wondering how many other checks were cashed this way? I also requested back statements of his credit cards. I haven't got all of them yet but did get one card back. I'm requesting for more from this company as I found over $1,000 in one month worth of charges that he did not make. Can I get copies of the receipt to see how they were signed. What if she was just forging his signature??? Can that be proved???
She has also admitted to something else that was in a conversation that was through chat.....can that be used??
There is much more to this story but I'm hoping some one can help me find a place to start. I don't even know what kind of lawyer to go and seek advice from. Anyones advice would be helpful**************thank you!
