What is the name of your state? California
I moved out of my last house on 9/6/05. I have repeatedly asked my previous land lord for my deposit back and still have not heard from her. No phone call, no letter, no email reply and no money. What now?
She told me before I moved out that she is keeping it as a PG&E payment, although I've never received anything in writing. When we moved into the house 1.5 years ago she said that PG&E would be hooked up in a few weeks, and until then we were running off of our neighbors meter. PG&E never came out to hook it up because my landlord wouldn't pay the fee for them to do it. So I had been paying 1/2 the bill for a few months, and that was about $80 a month. A different family moved into the house I shared utilities with and the bill went up to $500 a month. Can she really charge me $250 a month for PG&E when the only thing that changed was the people in the other house? There is nothing noted on my rental agreement that I would be responsible for 1/2 of this bill, as the PG&E was supposed to be hooked up to my own house. I asked her over and over when PG&E would be out and she always told me that she was waiting on them and that she didn't know what was taking so long. That is when I called PG&E and was told by them that they were ready to come out and hook it up in February of 2004 and that the only thing they were waiting on was for the landlord to pay the hook up fee.
Sorry it is so long, but is there anything I can do to get back my deposit?
