(Are you familiar with the concept of "processing"?)

Yes I am familiar with the concept of processing.. So they basically have to divide it between all parties involved? I.E attorneys, doctors n such?

Yes. Once the recipeint's attorney recieves the money form the payor, they have pay out the bills and atty fees and other liens. Whatever remains is paids the the recipient.

Double checking the numbers and getting those payment issued takes time.

Well, duh, because they are not sitting there with a checkbook from the insuror in their hands. It has to be processed through their company's pay system just like any other pay out. There was always a possibility that the papers would not be signed that day and there are other payees involved, so they don't pay you on the spot and assume you'll take care of all these others for them.
