O.k. I have been renting an apartment for 6 months now. I pay my rent on time or early every month. However no repairs are being dont for my apartment. I have no shower in the bathroom, I have a tub but no shower or shower curtian now no matter how careful me or my kids are in taking our bath, the floor always gets wet, I feel that is dangerous if the kids ever slipped. Is it the landlords responsability to put the ring up for the curtain, or mine, and put a shower head in for a shower, all he has on the faucet is a rubber hose, when I took the apartment he said he was going to fix it and never has, its always next month, next month, it has been 6 months and nothing. Also at times because the broiler isnt running correctly because they need to reset it, or for this weekend they noticed I was almost out of oil, they shut the broiler down so here it is -6 degrees outside and me and my kids have no heat. If the landlord sees I am almost out of oil shouldnt he tell me instead of just shutting the broiler down. Is it legal for them to just shut it down like that.

Best answer is you have to find better employment, or work 2 jobs, then you will have enough money to find a landlord who is NOT trailer trash!

Not to mention where is the father anyway, how come there is no money from that side of the family(grandparents)? Or your family?

What is everyone dead in your family?

It is a close call wether we should call children services on you for allowing your kids to live in such a dangerous situation.

For your information djdj, I am working 2 jobs at the moment there father is a dead beat, you cant make a man want to be a father, and as for child support, there is a lean on his house, his license is suspended, and there is a warrent out for his arrest, so until they acually catch the s.o.b. I stand in limbo. When I went and got the apartment all of this was to be done before I moved in and wasnt. Its not the point that i cant afford a better place I just got screwed and I am in this lease. I am doing the job of two people. So **** off cuz you have no idea what the hell you are talking about, Oh and it is not a trailer. stupid ass....

WELL good for you we got some details here.......

So you know who the boiler people are call them, you know who the oil company is call them,

Get it fixed, and get some oil and deduct it from the rent.

Do you really think a judge will get mad at you for this?

Shower huh.... have you ever gone to Home Depot? or Wal Mart? you buy a expandable pole and hang the shower curtain yourself.

Or buy some rubber backed mats for the bathroom so you dont slip and fall. they are cheap a couple of bucks each at K MART.....or go to those 99 cent stores

It may not be a trailer but the landlord acts like he is a trailer trash landlord!

And why isnt his family or yours helping out this time?

Ya gotta learn about home maintence and being a woman is no excuse.

As a matter of fact my second jb is Home Depot, I am in bookkeeping. and the pole you are mentioning is 60.00. now i will do the work myself or have someone do it. but i dont feel i should have to pay for it. i did put a rug in the bathroom with the rubber bottom but it gets wet every night. no matter how carefull we are. i dont mind doing the work but it will cost a pretty penny that i dont feel i should be responsable for. Just because I am not broke doesnt mean I have to fix up someone elses responsability.....

How come I can find the same pole for $10.....spring loaded, to hang betwen the two walls... oh you want a round curtain around the tub....thats more expensive

Hey sometimes you get a real garbage landlord.....and you do have a right to heat hot water and a safe living enviroment, so when next months rent is due show him the reciepts for the oil and repairs and pay him the difference.

What is he gonna do? sue you and tell a judge you dont deserve heat?

Well the heat I am in charge of oil. I have to buy oil, or did I miss something. Is the land lord supposed to do that. I was pissed cuz he turned the broiler off, saying i have to fill the tank before he turns it back on. and the round one is the only one i can use. i have a round tub. so even if i put the pole like you are saying the other side of the wall will get wet and leak. I have tried the one you are talking about. thanks for the help though, i guess he wont be getting much rent from me this month.....:)

Another question, is oil included in your rent? Also he does not have to shut the boiled down if the fuel is low..... it will just run out of fuel THEN it will be needed to be re lit. and the oil company will do that for you. And you dont have to fill the tank, but most oil compnies will not come to your home for less the HALF a tankful.

If the oil is not included in the rent ..oh boy its gonna cost you a lot more then last year. Thats why you have to read the newspapers and be observant. If you had a lease with heat included the landlord would get stuck with the higher costs NOT YOU!

I dont mind paying for the oil. I was just pissed he shut my broiler down. The oil is not included. But like I said I dont mind that. It was x-mas eve I was alone (kids w/father) no heat nothing. till the day after x-mas no oil companies would deliver on the holiday. and i feel like if there was a little tiny bit of oil left i wouldnt have been freezing my ass off.
