What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? Virginia
Long story short: My now ex-boyfriend is moving out. Before we split up recently, he signed a contract of agreement in front of a notary. It states that he owes me $16,000, two thousand of that for the payment of a dell computer, the rest is living expenses for the past year. It also says that I will keep the computer and release it to him after the fist $2,000 is repaid.
Now he wants to take the computer. I found out that the computer payments are under his mother's name and not his. He made payments of no more than five hundred dollars, and I covered the two thousand dollars left over. I sent her a check for it since the bills still came to her house as he had just moved in with me.
I have paid for almost the whole thing, and I have a document stating I am to keep it, but it isn't under his name. She says if I do not let him move out with the computer, she is going to sue me. So, what are my rights? Who does the computer belong to?
