I deparately need help. When I was 22 and living in california the girl I was dating became pregnant. I supported her for the nine months she was pregnant. Gave her a roof over her head made sure she was fed and clothed etc. 2 months after the baby was born I came home one weekend to find out that she had taken the baby all the furiture and my car and up and left leaving me without a roof over my head. I have had no contact with her since then and heard she had married someone she had been seeing at the same time as me. Now I am told ive to pay $27,000 in child support for a child ive never seen in over 12 years and who was taken away from me without my knowledge. Is there anyhting I can do about this?

The only thing you can do.. retain a Family Law Attorney and contest the order.

Maybe I am stupid today, but isn't there a statute of limitations for her to file claiming he is the biodad? Or, are we assuming he agreed he was years ago?

assuming that since they were together two months after the child was born that he had his name on the BC?

there is a statue of limitations on protesting paternity and since this is 12 years later - i would think that it has come and gone. the court will recognize him as the father rather he is bio or not.

this is gonna start all of the usual posts -

<i>"she took off with my child, denied me seeing the child and now wants to be paid."

"you brought the child into the world and you are responsible for financially supporting that child." </i>

the only person who loses in this one is the child.
