What is the name of your state? CA
...are so many of you such jerks when people post here? There are a handful of polite (and knowledgeable) posters who are actually lawyers, but the vast majority of what has to be waded through here is just garbage... unwarranted personal attacks on newbies who don't know the law, don't know what they should and shouldn't do, and so many of you blast them for it.
And let's couple that with a distinct lack of actual legal knowledge available here... I know there are a handful of lawyers, but there should be a warning to newbies that 99% of the answers they receive won't apply to their situation or state or is just distilled from some bitter divorced person's personal experiences.
I guess I'm lucky I don't actually need to come here for help. I truly feel sorry for those who are searching for answers in the most painful moments of their lives and come up against some of the most vile and condescending writing I've come across on an Internet forum. I know that people feel free to let go of their manners when posting anonymously, but rarely have I seen it this bad.
Some of these people have finally summoned up the courage to escape from an abusive relationship, or have been betrayed by the one person who should have been the most trustworthy one in their lives and come here looking for answers. Sure, there are also those who are the ones we all hear about from friends... the "other" party, the one who's evil and manipulative. There is always the evil one... do we have to assume from the first posts that every mom who's worried about dad's parenting is evil? That every grandparent who is worried about their grandkid is evil? That every dad worried about mom's weird hobbies is evil? Can't they be told politely and without rancor that their position is untenable, not supportable, not likely to go anywhere?
Not here apparently, because you lump the unknowledgeable into the same bucket with the manipulative every day and seem to think it's OK.
To those who are polite and helpful... good for you for providing a pro bono nudge in the right direction for those unfortunate who must go through a divorce and its aftermath. To the rest of you... you know who you are. Do you have to pick on people at their lowest moment in life for your own sport, to have fun, to spew your own venom? What is the name of your state?
