What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? My son (17) is going before a pre-expellsion board hearing this week. When you boil it down, after reading the violations against him, it is due to swaring. Can he really be expelled for this?? He has never been sited for fighting, drugs, truencey, etc.

Not to mention that we are working with a social worker to get to the bottom of his swaring and why he is doing this...it could truly be a medical condition. HELP!

He can be expelled for swearing as long as it's against school rules.

You should consider having an attorney to represent your son at the hearing.

You should also consider an evaluation by a physician or psychologist/psychiatrist if you believe your son's problems are caused by a medical problem. I don't believe a social worker can diagnose a medical or psychological problem for IEP purposes.
