My boyfriend is going through a nasty divorce in Indiana. His soon to be ex was released from a year in prison in November and in December she was awarded custody of the children. My boyfriend is a very hard working and loving father with no criminal record so we were devestated by the initial ruling. Now we have found out she is taking their 19 month old son to a place called First Steps for occupational therapy. He was born with clubfeet and had surgery while she was in prison. She told us in November that she had taken him to a doctor and his feet were ok and no need to wear braces or special shoes. So we were confused with the therapy. When we questioned her she told us this is a WIC (women, infants, and children) program and she is getting assistance. How can this be? She gets more a week in child support than my boyfried brings home and we carry insurance on the children. She went to prison for embezzeling money so she is very devious and we think what she is doing is illegal. I have written some letters and sent some emails but I can't find any guidelines for the WIC program. These are NOT needy children and I am sick of people exploiting these programs and I am sick of her! Who can we call or write? Thanks.
