I live in Georgia and after six years of marriage my wife wants a divorce and I don't. There is no infidelity, abuse or any reason she can give me other than the marriage does not "feel" right and she does not love me. Can she get a divorce without me agreeing?
My response:
Yes.
There used to be a time when most States were pure "Fault" States, and there had to be a serious reason and grounds for divorce - and both parties had to agree to the divorce.
Today, however, most States are combination "Fault" and "No Fault" or pure "No Fault" grounds States. Under the "No Fault" statutes in Georgia, all she has to do is file for a divorce using "irreconcilable differences" as her grounds. She doesn't need your "permission" or "agreement" to get a divorce. There's no such thing as "slavery" or "indentured servitude" any longer. In other words, you can no longer "force" someone to stay in a marriage if they don't want to stay.
Good luck to you.
