thanks for thatAha, I can only guess that, yes, there are legal bills in Il, Some mights be for a wife, And you appear to be screwed.
Thanks for dropping by.
So my wife is claiming that I will be on the hook for her legal bills at the end of the case and that I will be put on a payment plan as she will be claiming it as marital debt. We were married for five weeks and have been separated for almost two years, so that is two years of legal costs on her side. To date her father has been paying her legal bills. She does not work and claims to be 100% dependent on my income. Legal costs include her petition for sole physical and legal custody of our 16 month old, contested visitation and divorce proceedings.thanks for that

I'm sure a senior will respond - I'm sure your attorney is correct. So my wife is claiming that I will be on the hook for her legal bills at the end of the case and that I will be put on a payment plan as she will be claiming it as marital debt. My attorney is stating that her legal costs incurred after we separated is not marital debt but I am looking for a second opinion? Thanks.
lol, why are you doubting your lawyer? My attorney is stating that her legal costs incurred after we separated is not marital debt but I am looking for a second opinion? Thanks.
Thanks. I didn't know if he was saying that to keep my business. My wife is trying to get me to fire my attorney by stating that for every dollar I spend on my attorney that I will be on the hook for her legal costs as marital debt. Probably just a scare tactic on her part.lol, why are you doubting your lawyer?
Separated debt, sounds just like it is, not marital debt.
How soon after you split up did you (or she) file for divorce? Your period where marital debt could have accumulated was from the day you got married until the day that one of you filed for divorce.Thanks. I didn't know if he was saying that to keep my business.
