What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Louisiana
I separated from my last employer on September 29, 2008. The next payday was that following day. I requested that my paycheck be sent via mail to my home, but I have not received it. I was told that Louisiana law allows the employer up to fifteen days to get a former employee his/her final paycheck, so I waited that duration. After then I sent a letter of demand email to the employer requesting my final paycheck. I few days later I received a letter in thae mail from her lawyer, who by the way is a real estate attorney, saying that an investigation was being conducted on me and that I would not receive that pay until the investigation is over. I am sure that this can not take place so what else can I do?
