Ok, here is the story. I am 20 years old. I meet this girl she is 16 years old. She living with her grandparents right now. Her grandparents gave me permission to go into their house and hang out out with her whenever I wants. He tolerate me to go into the house. I did have her grandparent's permission to go into the house that's why i'm allowed to go in. Anyway its been a few month later I got her pregnant. Her grandparents know that we been doing this (sex) at home in their house. I feel like her grandparents set me up with temptation. But anyway will they be able to press charge on me for rape if they know that i'm in the house and she is willing to have sex with me. My girlfriend doesn't want to press charge on me, her grandparents also doesn't want to press charge on me but do they have the right to do it? Also i'm the father of the unborn child in her stomach and I'm willing to take the responsibility to take care of her but her grandparent keep on taking her paycheck which make us cannot support ourself. I live in a wealthy family that's why I want her to move out of that house to live in a better environment. She cannot live in that house because here is the reason:

1) Her grandparents keep taking half of her paycheck to go "gamble".
2) The house, every "single" day people yelling at each other with loud noise.
3) Her grandparent cannot support her, but my family can.
4) They are in "BIG" debt.
5) Sometime they don't have enough money to pay for the utilities bill and barely support themselves.

I heard that in Missouri once you are pregnant you are a legal independent adult right (she is 16 right now)? If its true can she just move out of that house and come live with my family so that we can give her a better environment for her and the unborn child to live in. Also she will be living with me unmarried because i want her to finish school first before getting married also to save money first. So basically what rights does she have? and what rights do I have as the father of the unborn child. If she move in and live with me my family and me will be able to support us. PLEASE HELP URGENT THANK YOU

What is the legal age of consent in Missouri?

Answer
The age of consent is 14 for someone up to the age of 20. It is 17 for anyone over the age of 21.

The legal age for a minors (male and female) to engage in consensual sex in Missouri is 17. All other statutes regarding the AOC have been repealed.

Missouri

A person under age 18 cannot marry without the consent of the custodial parent or guardian.

A person under age 15 cannot marry without approval of a judge in the county where the marriage license is sought. The statute states that the judge should grant approval only upon a showing of "good cause" and that unusual conditions make the marriage "advisable." Persons lacking mental capacity to consent to marriage cannot marry without court approval.

Emancipation in the United States of America

In the United States, a person is a minor (and therefore under the control of their parent(s)/guardian(s)) until they attain the Age of Majority (18 years). However, in special circumstances, a minor can be freed from control by their guardian, before turning 18. In most states, the three circumstances in which a minor becomes emancipated are: (1) enlisting in the military [requires parent/guardian consent], (2) marrying [requires parent/guardian consent], (3) obtaining a court order from judge [does not require parent/guardian consent].

Once a minor is emancipated, he/she is nearly equal to an adult, legally speaking. They are completely free from any control by their parent(s) or guardian(s).

Exact rights and responsibilities of emancipated minors vary by state. In most cases, an emancipated minor has the exact same rights and responsibilities as an adult, excluding the rights to purchase tobacco, pornography, lottery tickets, and firearms. Some (but not necessarily all) right of emancipated minors: emancipated minors can enter into contracts by themselves, sue and be sued in their own name, vote, obtain a drivers' license, seek medical care and consent to medical procedures, seek education or drop out of school, and hold a bank account. In most states, an emancipated minor will be tried as an adult if he/she is charged with a crime.

The exact laws and protocols for obtaining emancipation vary by state. In most states, the minor must file a petition with the family court in his/her jurisdiction, formally requesting emancipation and citing reasons why it is in his/her best interest to be emancipated. He/she must prove that he/she can support himself/herself financially. Many states require that the minor have been living separate from his/her parent(s)/guardian(s) for a period of time; however, that requires the consent of the parent(s)/guardian(s) in order to not classify simply as "running away".

Until an emancipation, or other legal mechanism, is granted by a court, a minor is still subject to the rules of their parent(s)/guardian(s).

Emancipations are rarely granted, because of the narrowness of the definition of "best interest". On one end of the spectrum are minors who have been victims of abuse; in most cases, the state's department of child services is notified and the child is placed in foster care. On the other end of the spectrum are minors who are seeking emancipation for superficial reasons, such as not being pleased with their parent's/guardian's rules. In those cases, the emancipation will most likely be denied.

In some states, free legal aid is available to minors seeking emancipation, through children's law centers. This can be very useful, in terms of creating a convincing emancipation petition.

Tell mom and dad you are going to need a lawyer.;)

Sadly, your parents obviously aren't wealthy enough to ensure that you received a decent education. On any level.

I would just like to ask why it seems like every post from Missouri (with the exception of mine and O.S. and Majo's) make the stereotype seem true.

Really, we're not all ignorant hillbillies who think it's totally acceptable to impregnate children.

Good Lord.
