i really need to find out the sol on bad check writing in idaho way back in 1997 is when the checks were wrote

FDIC says SOL on checks is 3 years. Worst case it falls under a written contract, which is an SOL of 5 years. Either way, the SOL has expired and you can tell the collection agency to go get bent, the debt is time-barred.
