What is the name of your state? Oklahoma..Hello my name is Brandon and I want to know if I will get a discharge or not for getting Discoid Lupus while in the service? If so will they pay me anything or just kick me out and say good luck? It's something I have to see everyday of my life and take pills everyday to sustain it. Will the Army try and make it out like I had it before I joined or will they do something about it? Either way I get out in December but I would like to get a medical discharge so I don't have to pay for all the monthly treaments. I get back in Oct. from Iraq and I have seen the doctor many times for it. It's in my records and I just want to know what I should do to prepare. Does anyone have a clue? Please let me know. Thanks

My response:

This would be funnier than hell if it wasn't so serious. But, you have got to be joking! Do you seriously think that Bush wants you and your medicals on "his" ticket? You will complete your tour (yeah, I love that word, "tour" - - how romantic) and your CO will shake your hand as you board the plane. Hopefully, one of the Insurgents won't blast the plane out of the sky.

Good luck, pal.

to my knowledge

and this is on my ex-hubs experience with the us army actually...he suffered a non-war, job related injury, and he recieves 20% disability, and they gave him $7grand to get out...but it was a service injury...i'm not medically inclined, what is it that you have? so i would have to think that if its service related, they may offer you disability, seps pay, or either but not both...are you even on a medical board eval yet? if you do not want to get out(as i said i dont know what it is that you have), and can show you can still do some type of military job, you may be able to make a lap-move(or is it lat-move?) and stay in...i think with that you would need a med board, and a medical eval...good luck...ok i'm assuming its very painfull...anyways...is your original ets in dec? or is that your med sep? funny, you should be talking to your command, they would know this information, and if not, point you in the right direction...
