What is the average compensation for a conservator who takes over legal matters for an elderly person? The elderly person is in California. Is there an hourly compensation that is applied over a period of time (3 years)?
My response:
California law only provides that Conservators are entitled to "reasonable compensation." Therefore, the totality of the circumstances, your duties, the relative wealth of the conservatee, and other considerations are all figured into the "reasonable" amount.
However, be aware, that a Conservator's ability to obtain "reasonable" payment must be mentioned in the originally signed conservatorship papers. If not, you're doing it for free.
