My former employer, during a period of about one year, decided to deduct "chargebacks" from my salary. This amounted from about $100.00 to my final paycheck being for $52.50 rather than my normal salary of $845.00. He did this with never any backup paperwork. It came to the point that I never know what I was going to get. I live in Arizona. Also we had a verbal agreement that I would be paid a bonus if my "goal" as sales manager was met. Since I quit and I demanded payment he has refused. I have filed a small claims action and go the the hearing on 5-18-00.

I got so wrapped up in the story I forgot to ask the questions. So here they are.
1) Does an employer have the right to withwold amounts of money form a salaried employee?
2) Can he do it without prior agreement?
3) How should I present the unpaid bonus situation to the hearing officer?
The court hearing has been postponed to 6/8/00
