In the state of Connecticut, how long can the landlord legally hold your security deposit? More than 45 days ago we moved out and the landlord refuses to give us an exact day for the return. She claims that the invoices for the work done on the damages in the house have not all been sent. First of all, we did not even damage the house, but that is besides the point. I heard she had 30 days and then we were entitled to double the security plus interest minus any damages. Is this true?
Also, we are planning on taking her to small claims court for this money. What should we do to prepare and what should we expect?
