What is the name of your state? - California

Hi everyone! I need your help. In most states, the age requirement for marriage without parental consent is 18. However, Hawaii and Georgia's age requirement without parent consent is only 16, and Mississippi's is 17 for males, and 15 for females. Lets say a 16 1/2 year old goes to Hawaii or Georgia or Mississippi and gets married. When he/she comes back to his/her origional state, is the marriage valid? Is is legal? I'm really confused.

My response:

As long as the couple met the residency requirements for either of those States, then yes, the marriage is recognized as lawful all over the World, including parts of Alabama.

In other words, you can't just go to one of those states and get married in an attempt to circumvent the marriage laws of your own state. You have to have lived in that state long enough to qualify as a resident.
