What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? N.Y. I HAVE BEEN A BACKGROUND ACTOR FOR 8 YRS. & FROM MAR. UNTIL JULY I BECAME FRIENDLY WITH A WOMAN WHO HAPPENED TO B ON THE SAME MOVIE SET AS I WAS. ON JULY 12 OUR FRIENDSHIP TOOK A TURN FOR THE WORSE & EVER SINCE I'VE BEEN TRYING TO GET BACK INTO HER GOOD GRACES BUT SHE WON'T GIVE IN. I'D LIKE TO ADD THAT WE ARE BOTH MARRIED. I WAS CALLING HER, TEXTING HER & E MAILING HER TO BECOME HER HER FRIEND ONCE AGAIN, BUT STILL NOTHING. THEN ON AUG. 19 SHE E MAILED ME TELLING ME THAT IF I TRIED TO CALL HER, TEXT HER, OR E MAIL HER THAT SHE WOULD CALL THE POLICE, MY WIFE & ALSO THAT SHE WOULD CALL BOOKING AGENTS( I ASSUME TO BESMIRCH MY GOOD NAME & MAKE SURE THAT I WASN'T ON THE SAME SET AS HER). LATELY I HAVEN'T BEEN GETTING CALLED FOR AS MANY JOBS AS USUAL & I'M ASSUMING THAT MAYBE SHE HAS BEGUN CALLING THESE BOOKING AGENTS ANYWAY. I DON'T KNOW IF THIS IS COINCIDENCE THAT I HAVEN'T BEENN GETTING CALLS BECAUSE THE AGENCIES JUST DON'T HAVE ANY JOBS AVAILABLE OR IF SHE HAS BEEN CALLING THEM, PERSUADING THEM TO KEEP ME OFF THE SAME SET AS HER. I WOULD LIKE YOUR ADVICE ON WHAT TO DO. SHOULD I WAIT IT OUT OR CONTACT A LAWYER HERE ON STATEN ISLAND,N.Y.?

One time I said something that this girl I liked took offense to, and she never talked to me again. I called her constantly and tried to explain and apologize and I just became generally creepy about her not wanting to be around me anymore.

The first thing you should do is immediately stop contacting her. That means do not call her, do not text her, do not IM her, do not contact her in any way, shape or form by any means of communication you can think of.

If you do this, and do it now, you may be able to avoid hiring a lawyer.

But if you do need a lawyer, it will not be because you have any cause of action against her (you don't) but to defend yourself against the quite possibly viable cause of action she has against you.

You are the one in the wrong here, not her. Stop it instantly or you could find yourself in very serious trouble.
