What is the name of your state? KY

Here I am again! It has now been over 2 yrs and have not been approved yet. Had a hearing in June or July, been so long I cant remember for sure. Was denided ofcourse. Was hurt in 2001, finaly had surgery 2002, because I couldnt walk. Herniated disc had killed sciatic nerve. After surgery I was able to walk. I was left still with low back pain and burning in the legs. Still didnt file for disability until 2003. Been denided 3 times. ALJ did not even recconize my treating physicians records. Just recently I had a Nerve Study done because the burning in the legs just gets worse and worse. Nerve Study shows that I have Polyneuropathy. I have 2 damaged nerves in the left leg and 1 damaged nerve in the right leg. I am just wondering what are my chances of appoval now. Slim to none I guess.

I really don't know but I'd think that anything with neuropathy would have a chance, mainly because now you have a real live *name* for your problems. Have you checked online to see if neuropathy is listed in the qualifying diseases (not sure the name of that, sorry).

Well don't feel bad I filed more then three years ago now had my hearing in Aug. and was told 12 weeks or so now been around 18 six past and nothing. Calling the 800 number seems to be a waste of time, everytime I've called I've recieved a different story, everytime. My attorney just says he has seen it take a year or more. Wrote my Senator and recieved a letter back saying glad you contacted our office for your problem but that was two weeks ago. I'll try giving the women whose card was in the return letter a call soon I guess. It's just like all goverment issues ignore it and maybe it'll go away.
My lawyer did just call and he said my case was plucked from the office in NC and taken to Atlanta, Ga. he said he had no idea why and they told him a decision was made months ago but couldn't tell him what it was. Maybe someone here knows why?

I am from NJ. My wife applied for SSDI benefits in February of 2005.....she was deemed disabled in March 2003. We waited patiently for a decision. All records were in order and her claim was delayed since it was transferred to ****land for processing.

The local SS office representative advised us that a decision was made in October 2005 regarding her claim but she was not at liberty to divuldge the decision until we officially receive written correspondence from Social Security.

After pressing the issue.....the SS rep did say that IF in fact my wife's application was in fact denied....we would have recd immediate notification to this effect. This being said....we continued to wait patiently for notification.

On a positive note......my wife did not have to present to SS docs....they relied on medical info provided in her file.

It was our impression that NO NEWS....is GOOD NEWS**************we also thought that since the application was transferred to Quality Review Dept for processing**************this was a positive sign that in fact her application would be approved. If her application were outwardly rejected......it would not be transferred to other Depts for processing. This assumption was correct since we just heard that in fact she was approved for SSDI benefits.

Hopefully our encounter will alleviate your anxieties. It is a SLOW and ARDUOUS process**************....you might want to confer w/ your LOCAL SS office representative to check on the status of the claim. You can inquire as to
the stage of processing your application......they might be able to alleviate your concerns.

Good Luck**************..hang in there**************you are not alone......we have ALL experienced similar anxieties!

I've called the 800 number on the SS website and recieved a different answer everytime.
First after the 12 weeks I was told give it 10 days, I gave it 2 weeks.
The 2nd time I was told a decision was made on Nov. 14 but the file was plucked from the system and sent to Atlanta, Ga. from the NC office but I'll have a letter within 30 days.
Third time just on tuesday I was told a decision was only made on Dec. 22nd and I'll be getting a letter in about 60 days. I tried to explain that I was told twice that a decision was made in Nov. but she said thats what on the computer. How could this change everytime you call. It's already been nearly 5 months since the ALJ hearing. :(
I'm also an X-New Jersian, grey up at the Jersey shore, Then in the Pinelands. After getting loosing the house from sickness had to leave NJ with the kids now live in the Blue Ridge Mountains. :(
