Wont return belongings

Im in California, about 5 years ago my divorce was final, he was to return a item of mine and the belongings in it. He did not and told me that it got ruined by the rain so he threw it out. I was extremely upset considering it contained my daughters his step, things of when she was little. Now years later, he texts rude things and also says things intentionally to get me upset. But one of the things were that he had my belongings and i know whats in there and he can use againest me. Dude is a whack job and this is a game he plays by attempting he knows things so people wld admit to whatever he was accusing. But question is, what can i do if anything with this text to get my things back?

I know he has them, my kids have told me he does as well. That along with my kids orginal birth certificates with the foot prints i never gave him and i have no idea how he got. Including my daughter's which is his ex step daughter.

Good Morning, Yes I do have children with him, two. And than my third, whom is his ex step daughter. The belongings inside as far as i remember were only things from my years before him, MY daughters things, and also her kindergarden school work I kept, which he thinks hes intitled to (he will admit to that) just bc he thinks he owns and controls everything And we wernt married than.

As far as the footprints and BC, those were not in there, but yesterday I did realize and only after our 9 year old daughter mentioned it last weekend that her dad had their footprints, but he has MY daughters as well. And I can even bet my life that I had my kids certificates bc those were the first things I packed and moved including pictures and baby books, when I left...but whos to say im not lying with no proof :/

And our order states he was to return the file cabinet with all belongings remaining inside. There is also another order he was to return my daughters things as well and again he said he got rid of it and i also have another text he says, when she comes over to visit him he'll give it to her. I just wrote that off bc I don't want my daughter going through any more than she has.
