Work Authorization for F1 student working on OPT

Current Status: F1
Work Authorization: OPT (valid till mid May)

I am currently working in IT field and my employer is ready to file my H1-B this April. I am currently involved in a critical project which will be going on till August 08. Since my work authorization is expiring in May, what legal course can i take apart from going back to Ghana from June till October?
Since my job profile is mostly working on the business development side can I apply for a business visa till my H1 kicks in.

Please advice as i dont want o abandon my project during the critical period.

You can't do much of anything but you will have to stop working when your OPT expires and 60 days after that (grace period) you'd have to go back to your home country since you cannot lawfully remain in the US. Unless you qualify for some other type of visa (it's not clear whether you would or not) you would have to wait until OCtober if your H-1B petition is accepted for processing and approved, before being able to restart working for the employer.

Thanks for your reply...Is it possible that i can get the Business visa during the mentioned period while i am in status...or what other kind of visa can i get legally...

You can try to get a B-1 visa but that does NOT allow you to work in the US!!!
