Work Authorization with I485

I am a Canadian married to an American we applied for the admendment of status on Sept 14. I did not know that I had to apply for a work authorization at the same time. My fiancee visa expires nov 28. I have applied for a work authorization document but it has been about 1 1/2 months. How long will it take to get an answer? Can I call and inquire about my case? Can I show up at the local office?

I think you'd better go to the local INS to apply for the EAD card. I got mine after receiving advanced pro. But you should get up early and wait in long queues cause they only deal with a certain number of such cases each day. I arrived there at 3 am!! Good luck to you!
