What is the name of your state? Florida
I work for a school district as a cook and I have a hernia. I know I got it from work and will soon have a operation for it. I was told no work for a week and then no lifting for 4 to 6 weeks. My manger said I will not be allowed to work. I don't have that much time in sick leave to get paid for the hole time. I had begun to keep track of the weight of the boxes I have to lift each day to try to prove this is all work related. Do you think this is some type of case?

What kind of hernia? Did it happen while you were at work? What did your doctor say was the cause? Did you tell your employer and file an accident report?

Yes, I have deliveries once a week putting away as many as 40 or so boxes each time. My boss knows of the hernia she is the one who told me If I couldn't lift I couldn't work. The hernia is a umbilical one caused by straining.
