i was in a job related injury 12/99 (neck injury). since then i have been out of work per my doctor of record. however, my employer kept health insurance coverage on me, too. this past march i had surgery on my knee (not bwc related) which had been approved in february by my health insurance carrier. a month after the surgery, i received notification that my health insurance had been cancelled as of feb 29th! my surgeon's office called and told me that they talked to someone that said i was no longer employed by my employer. is this wrongful termination? I received NO notification that i was no longer employed there or any information about obtaining cobra. what can i do? i owe $10000 for that knee surgery.
