I presume you're talking about receiving temporary total disability benefits. That depends on a whole lot of facts that are unknown. First and foremost, whether your employer and their WC carrier are accepting liability for your injury. Second, whether a doctor has legitimately certified you as unable to work. Third, whether the claim needs to be investigated.

You don't just tell your employer "I hurt my leg," head home, and wait for the checks to start rolling in.

If you have questions about the status of your WC claim, your very best option is to contact your employer and ask them.

Workers Comp payments

Hurt at work. Accident report filed. Certified by Dr to not return to work for 11 days. Is there a waiting period of a certain number of days before WC starts? Also do all accidents have to be reported to WC by the employer? Thanks.

You must notify the employer of the accident in writing as soon as possible but within 30 days, once the employer has been notified they have 10 days to file a C-2 with the comp board and the insurance company.

Within 18 days of the receipt of form C-2 the insurer begins the payment of benefits, if lost time exceeds seven days. If it is being disputed you should be notified.

Not sure about ny laws but in most states you must report the injury within 72 hours then when and if your injury is bad enough your employer will either have you go to a er or they will make and appt. for you with their doctors..
There is usaully a 3-7 day waiting period before work comp will pay you for lost wages and that is after they take responibilty if it's their fault...
