I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF I HAVE DONE THE SAME PRFESSION FOR THE LAST 10 YEARS, BUT HAVE WORKED FOR A COMPANY, CAN THEY DO ANYTHING LEGALLY IF I BRANCH OUT AND DO A FORM OF WHAT I'M DOING NOW? ACTUALLY I'M A LICENSED NOTARY PUBLIC, I CLOSE MORTGAGE LOANS. THERE ARE LENDERS THAT REQUIRE ACCOMODATION CLOSERS. ONE THAT DOES NOT DO ALL THE PAPER WORK, ONLY CLOSES FOR THE LENDER, AND NOTORIZES THE SIGNATURES. I WOULD LIKE TO START MY OWN COMPANY FROM HOME DOING THESE CLOSINGS. I HAVE NOT SIGNED ANYTHING FOR THE COMPANY THAT I NOW WORK FOR STATING THAT I CANNOT DO A RELATED JOB. IN FACT MY EMPLOYER HAS TOLD THE CLOSERS THAT WE CAN DO THESE CLOSINGS ON OUR OWN, BUT SHE HAS ALWAYS KNOWN ABOUT THEM. I WOULD LIKE TO ADVERTISE ON A WEB PAGE MY SERVICES TO THESE LENDERS FROM A HOME BASE. CAN I LEGALLY DO THIS? I KNOW I'M PROBABLY NOT FILLING YOU IN AS MUCH AS I PROBALLY NEED TO BUT I'M TRYING TO KEEP IT SHORT. EVENTUALLY I WOULD LIKE TO QUIT MY JOB AND DEVOTE MY TIME TO A HOME BASED JOB. L/DFOX FROM ARKANSAS.

You can do that as long as there are no restrictions from your employer. Get something in writing from your employer that authorizes you to do your own closings outside of the company. A notary public license is a State license so you would not be limited to serving just clients of your employer.
