What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? New York
A friend of mine tells me that his general foreman issued a rule that everyone at his company who gets injured must report it to him first and if he decides it requires medical treatment, then they go to the doctor. Is this allowed?, it was my understanding that they can't stop you from going to a doctor. At the same time, the general foreman has no medical training.

sure.
but their decision can be overruled by others-the carrier, medical opinion, and, of course, the comp court.
triage to determine first aid or not is common in many work environments.

it also may depends on whether the employer is self-insured. any employee can object to a denial and show evidence to the contrary.

you likely can tell several people .. foreman would be a first choice

and you can go to your doctor first

and the foreman cannot say no or you HAVE to go to the Dr. of their choice (and I never see their Dr. first).

if you want the employer/carrier to pay for the treatment, the NY comp law allows them to direct care to specific authorized facilities and providers.

I don’t think the foreman can tell you, whether you should see a doctor or not. Moreover, when the foreman has no medical knowledge! What are your company policies regarding injuries at workplace?

Depending on the industry/job, most supervisors have first-aid training, and there are industrial medics/nurses on site...

Many states can and do dictate medical treatment...meaning the employer can and does transport to ER/clinic of their choice.
