can I write a book about a copyrighted movie using my own illustration that resemble the movie characters?

people write books about books called summary books so thought it might me ok.

Nevermind. I see from another thread that you started that you are a Californian. :)

I agree with FlyingRon that it sounds like what you are proposing to do would be infringing on the movie rights, but it can depend on far more facts than you have disclosed here.

There are certainly ways to write books about movies or movie characters. You may wish to discuss the specifics of your book idea with an attorney in your area. I am thinking that you will probably need to acquire a license from the holder of the copyrights.
