What is the name of your state? Colorado

So, I'm thinking of going ahead with a book about my being a victim of childhood sexual abuse, sort of an autobiography-type thing. It will be nonfiction, and I wonder, is it legal for me to use the real name of the perpetrator? Everything I write will be fact, although not proveable as the perp got away with it thanks to a small town cop mentality. So, there are no legal documents or anything to back up my story. Can I use the real names of the perp and other key figures?

Thanks

My response:

Sure! You can write the book until the cows come home, and use the real names, too!

You just won't be able to publish it in that condition. But, hell, you certainly can write it, and then keep it tucked away in your closet.
