What can be done about a person who wrote songs, but got you to put the music to it. Then turns around and copyrights it in their name for words and music?

Rights to music

Dear Angelai,

The music industry can be cruel. I know because I have had something like that happen to me. I think the main thing you need is proof. The person may have turned around and put their name on your music but you need proof to show you wrote and played the music. Do have anything written down? Anything recorded? If, you do you could file a lawsuit. It is important that whatever you do, get some kind of copyright before you do or show anybody anything. I am not a lawyer but see if that helps.
