I got a parking ticket in MA. On the ticket the vehicle color was wrong (they literally couldn't tell black from white), and vehicle make info was wrong at first, then scratched and my vehicle info was filled in under the vehicle make box. The plate # and other info seemed correct. I wonder if this ticket is valid at all since no one could've wrote white while my car is black. Maybe the officer wanted to write a ticket for other people and then somehow used it on my car. But the point is, does anyone know if I could fight the ticket based on the possiible invalidity of the ticket?

Thanks a lot in advance!

Are you sure? I usually don't fight parking tickets. But this ticket was so irritating - I put in over an hour and half into the meter, but when I got there 6 minutes late, the ticket was on my car with the notice time written as EXACTLY when my meter expired. While indeed I should've found more coins and put in, the officer obviously waited there for various cars whose meters were about to expire (which is probably why the info on my ticket were initially for another car, whose lucky owner likely got back in time :) ). The officer/city's pretty desperate/eager to fine people, nothing illegal of course (and what else's new?). But given the circustances, I'm interested in putting up a fight instead of paying it right away like all of my previous parking tickets, whose validity was not even checked by me 'cause they were not as desperate as this one.

(Edit: BTW, another reason I decided to fight this one was that I just got another loading zone ticket while I was sitting in the car! After paying maybe a dozen parking tickets over the last 10 years or so, I finally decided to fight these tickets 'cause they don't seem very fair, even if they're legal (in which case, of course I'd probably lose my case). Thanks for any help though).

JUDGE: the court will now come to order. Is the Defendent ready?

YOU: Yes, your honor.

JUDGE: Is the prosecution ready?

DA: Yes, your honor.

JUDGE: O.k. (looking at you) so how do you plea?

YOU: Not Guilty your honor. And I move to dismiss on the grounds that the ticket is defective.

JUDGE: (lowering his glasses and looking at you) And how is the ticket defective?

YOU: Your honor, the ticket states my car is white when, in fact, it is black and the officer put down the wrong license plate number but corrected it. The officer also put down the wrong make of the car. I feel these errors show defects sufficient to void the ticket.

JUDGE: I see. And what color and make IS your auto?

YOU: Your honor, it's a BLACK [insert make here].

JUDGE: I see. (judge takes out a pen, corrects the information on the ticket then looks up again.) And the license number is correct?

YOU: Yes, your honor.

JUDGE: O.K. now that we've correct that information, again I'll ask. How do you plea?

YOU: (dejectedly) Guilty.

JUDGE: Fine in the amount of [insert fine here]. Please pay the clerk on your way out.

You can fight this ticket claiming several defenses. However, if your defense is that the ticket has the wrong color, that will NOT work. As long as the DETAILS are correct (license plate, etc.).... the ticket is valid.

Yes, join the Chief's sideline ;)
No way! I'd rather pay up my ticket now, (and I will probably do that soon after reading your and JETX comments). :)

BTW, a bit off topic again, I'm also a Brocos fan (prior to moving to New England years ago), and they still have a comfortable 2-game lead over chiefs with 5 games left and a softer schedule. :D
