What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? PA I was wondering if you could fire someone over the phone. On top of that can it be the secretary or does it have to be your boss? If you can not do this, what are the proper channels to go through to clear this up? Please help!!

Sure, it can be done over the phone. And the boss can have the secretary inform you.

It can be done by phone, by fax, by e-mail, by letter, by singing telegram, by Western Union or by smoke signal.

And it can be done by anyone designated by the boss, from the CEO to the janitor.
