What is the name of your state?
Wyoming

During a period of poor health and unemployment I ran up small balances on a few credit cards. Have a court judgement against me on one of them for $1100.

Yesterday I recieved a copy of the Writ of Garnishment in the mail for the above amount.

The Garnishee named in the writ is not my bank.

My health has improved and I recently started a pretty good job with a multi national company. My ability to pay has improved vastly althought I still do not have an extra $1100 laying around. My prioities since becoming employed have been to pay off arrangements made with utility companies and the landlord.
The stituation is if my account was frozen now, my utility checks would bounce and they would be cut off... it would take 30 days for me to satisfy the amount of the garnishment.
My questions:
1. They filed on the wrong bank; Are they just trying to get my attention or will they keep going till they find my bank?
2. Is it too late to make payment arrangements?
3. My checking account is a joint account with my wife. The debt is in my name only. Is there any protection there?

I do plan on paying these debts. Any information on how to proceed is greatly appreciated.

No, they'll keep going until they find the RIGHT bank.

2. Is it too late to make payment arrangements?
No, but you'd better hurry !

3. My checking account is a joint account with my wife. The debt is in my name only. Is there any protection there?
None whatsoever. As long as your name is on that account it's fair game.
